Stan Lee to Headline Big Apple Con

As New York City’s longest-running comic book convention, Big Apple Con will feature Stan Lee, co-creator of Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, the Avengers and more.

Lee will be joined by other top comic creators in Big Apple Con’s Artist Alley, according to a press release. Other celebrity guests include actress Barbara Eden of I Dream of Jeannie, drummer Marky Ramone from The Ramones, and actor Jon Bernthal of Daredevil. Eden will hold a Q&A panel from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The convention returns to the Penn Plaza Pavillion at the Hotel Pennsylvania for the 13th consecutive year. Guests have the option of purchasing single day or weekend passes for Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12. Big Apple Con will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A special screening of Comix: Beyond the Comic Book Pages, a documentary on the world of comic books, will be available for guests to attend on Sunday. There will also be a six costume contests held throughout Big Apple Con to award over $15,000 in prizes.

The Kids Costume Showcase for children under 12 will be on Sunday, along with Sci-Fi Cosplay Contest and Big Apple Presents: The Captain Zorikh Costume Contest. The Super Hero Cosplay Contest, the Lighter Side of Cosplay Contest, and Workmanship Cosplay Contest will be on Saturday.

There will also be workshops held during Big Apple Con, where special effects makeup artist Roy Wooley will host two at an additional cost to guests. Children aged 4 to 15 will be able to sign up for Jedi training with the Saber Guild Padawan Training Institute.
